ABOUT VICTOR DANIELS
Victor is Emeritus Professor of Psychology at Sonoma State University in Northern California and the author of seven books and numerous articles. He has a B.A. in psychology from San Francisco State University (Summa Cum Laude) and an M.A. and Ph.D. from UCLA. Then with a National Institute of Mental Health grant he became a research fellow at System Development Corporation in Santa Monica, went on to serve in the Peace Corps in South America, and trained as a Gestalt therapist. Now he is a full-time writer. He has served as Psychology Department Chair at his university, Director of the India Studies program, and member or chair of many faculty and administrative committees.
His teaching and writing includes humanistic, existential, and depth psychologies, Asian and western transpersonal psychologies and related spiritual traditions, social psychology, Gestalt therapy, and the psychology of learning, motivation and behavior. He is a longtime student of findings in Ecology, Anthropology, and Philosophy. His inclination is integrative as he seeks to discover how theories and findings from diverse disciplines fit together.
In the esoteric realm he has collaborated with his wife on projects that involve the chakras and the Tarot. He has occasionally moonlighted as a fortune-teller. (Yes, really!)
For decades he has lived beside a year-round creek in a forest ecosystem that is in recovery from severe logging. Hands-on experience in small ecosystem management and restoration have motivated him to study earth systems and planetary trends. Long residence in one place has enabled him to see changes that are less visible to those who move frequently or live in an urban environment.
Growing up in the U.S., Germany, France, and England and subsequently traveling widely has given him an international perspective. He speaks fluent Spanish, has done talks and workshops in Mexico and South America, and gets along in German and French.
